As a Technical Expert, you will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative agribusiness solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for:

• • Providing expert advice on mechanization, climate-smart agriculture, and inclusive business models.

Our Technical Experts bring specialised knowledge in key agricultural sectors to deliver targeted solutions that address complex agribusiness challenges. With expertise in areas like mechanization, climate-smart agriculture, and inclusive business models, you will play a crucial role in supporting farmers, cooperatives, and SMEs to achieve sustainable growth.

Skills and Abilities

• • Strong proficiency in mechanization, climate-smart agriculture, gender and social inclusion, or digital innovation within the agribusiness sector.
  • Proven ability to provide technical training and mentorship to farmers, cooperatives, SMEs, or other agricultural stakeholders.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, with the ability to structure and conduct primary research (e.g., interviews, focus groups).
• Ability to translate complex technical data into actionable insights and practical recommendations.
• Experience managing technical consulting projects across multiple regions in Africa, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
• Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on delivering high-standard technical reports.
• Ability to work in diverse environments and handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in the agriculture sector, with a focus on market systems development, working with SMEs or international organisations.
• Proven experience in delivering high-level technical support in areas such as mechanization, climate-smart agriculture, and gender inclusion.
• Strong track record of working with development agencies, governments, and multilateral organisations (e.g., AGRA, IFC, Palladium).
• Experience in providing training, mentoring, and technical support to farmers, cooperatives, or SMEs.
• Experience leading multiple technical projects across African countries (e.g., Kenya, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia).

Project Delivery
• Lead and manage technical components of projects, ensuring that deliverables meet client expectations and are completed on time and within budget.
• Conduct technical assessments and provide detailed recommendations for optimising agricultural practices, including mechanisation, climate-smart practices, and inclusive business models.

Reporting
• Prepare high-quality technical reports that synthesise research findings and provide actionable insights for future projects.

Research and Innovation
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in agricultural technologies and best practices, integrating innovative solutions into project designs to drive sustainability and growth.
• Lead research efforts related to value chain improvements, crop diversification, and market expansion strategies.

Client Engagement
• Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions to enhance business performance, improve operational efficiency, and foster sustainable agricultural development.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, and international organisations, to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and project goals.
